Men better shoppers than women?

Men better shoppers than women? That cannot be true! Well that might be your initial reaction but this article states otherwise.
I agree with the above article in the sense that men probably do less window shopping and more likely to return home with shopping bags compared to women when they do go to mall, however there are other aspects to consider as well.
Give a man a shopping list with the brand, shape, size and price range for the product you want and he will probably be happy to buy exactly that rather than be told that he picked up the wrong stuff. So, that might be the secret to a man’s shopping – when he has in his mind the type of thing he wants (like shirt, trouser, tie) , the color he wants, the price he is willing to pay (may be based on information from friends or price comparison websites), he probably may be more inclined to go shopping for exactly that rather than be thrown a display of a hundred different prints and shades and be asked to make a choice. (Blame it on the ‘Y’ chromozone, for now.)
Being a male, I enjoy shopping and plenty of it too. Make no mistake – I am not shopping for my wife nor my children, but happily for my own personal self! Having said that I know that many men do not enjoy shopping and so its their wives who have to drag them to the shopping mall to shop for the wife, the kids or even the husbands themselves!
Would you agree with me or do you think that I am unfair in supporting the fairer gender on this one?
(Just as a side note, should the shop keepers try harder to convince the men to buy as they may be more likely to take the deal and get over with the shopping “ordeal” rather than be dragged to the mall another time?)

Shopping & Men – there can’t be a bigger clash than that.. And it’s precisely what makes Men ‘better’ shoppers than women. Men hate it so much, it makes them extremely efficient and clinical at it. There is no wandering, exploring, discovering.. There isn’t your usual ‘shop-hopping’ despite having seen something you really liked in Shop 1 itself. If a man sees it, he buys it. Period.. In the same scenario, a woman would typically visit 30 other stores and then return to store 1 and maybe then buy the item (maybe)!! Madness I say, madness!!!!
Hey Kartik, I guess the survey found people exactly like you
May be I am androgynous with respect to shopping as I am just as you exactly described – visit 30 shops and may be return to Shop#1 for that 1 shirt I liked…by the way that striped shirt in Shop#5 also looked good…
That’s why my wife doesn’t shop with me, nor for me!
All i know is when men buy something they will buy it quickly and will STICK to it…not return them and exchange…and sometimes end up with nothing !!!
Hi Arun,
I guess you are right.
(Your comment is like men’s shopping – just do it”, quick and concise).
